How did we get here?

About Zenoke Player

Zenoke Player was made to be the karaoke host software that I wanted to use. I hope a few of you will enjoy it, too.

News

[ May 6, 2026 ] For v1.0, I plan to improve sound quality by bypassing SoundTouchJS until pitch/speed changes are set. A future release will add an online songbook feature, so guests can request songs from their phones. Mac support is TBD.

About the name

“Karaoke” means “empty orchestra.” The “zen” in “Zenoke” uses the character 全 which means “full” or “complete,” so the intent of the name is something like “the karaoke app with everything I wanted.”

Software licenses

Zenoke Player is made available under the MIT license. Zenoke Player uses the SoundTouchJS library, which is licensed under the LGPL-3.0. Visualizers are provided by Butterchurn, an MIT-licensed WebGL implementation of Milkdrop v2.
